Omega Vintage Constellation “C” 168.017 Watch: Head in the Stars
Joshua GrilletLet's talk a little about this beautiful Constellation and its rare finely striated dial.
The Constellation range was launched by Omega in 1952. The movements are chronometer-certified and the case backs are engraved with the image of the Geneva Observatory and eight stars.
These watches are elegant, precise, and beautifully finished.
The model we are interested in here is reference 168.017 SP and dates from the late 1960s. The case shape is known as “C Shape” on this reference, a variation on the cushion case. A brushed bezel and chamfers are also featured, creating a beautiful play of light across the whole piece. The movement is an Omega 564, chronometer with a quick date function.
Condition report
From an aesthetic point of view, this watch is in good condition. Only the glass has a defect; it is cracked and will need to be replaced with Omega glass.
Mechanically, this watch has seen better days; a complete cleaning and fresh oils are on the agenda.
