In the mid-1950s Seiko was absolutely keen to compete with the quality of Swiss watches and made this known by unveiling the Crown manufactured by Suwa. Daini, for its part, offers the Cronos, an alternative to the Crown with a finer movement. The stage is set. The rivalry between Suwa and Daini has worked miracles and Seiko finds itself number 1 in Japan.
