C’is in 1946 that Hans Wilsdorf, fondateur of Rolex, fait naître Tudor. Wilsdorf a choisi this nom Tudor car il voulait honorer the période Tudor of l’Angleterre.
The montres Tudor ont utilisé the Rose Tudor comme logo who is l’emblème héraldique of l’Angleterre and tire son origine of the dynastie Tudor. A the fin of the années 1960, the rose is remplacée by the bouclier actuel.
The principale différence entre Rolex and Tudor se voyait déjà in the années 40 with l’introduction of the première Tudor Oyster : at l’interior of the boîtier vissé Oyster, au lieu d’a mouvement fabriqué by Rolex, se trouvait a mouvement fourni by Ebauches SA, ETA.
